Airport
The Monastir Habib Bourguiba International Airport was built in 1968, covers an area of 199.5 hectares and is where all chartered flights for Monastir and Skanes touch down. It is a short distance from many of Tunisia’s coastline resorts.

Food and Drink
There are 2 bars in the public hall, the first of which can be found in the departure check-in area, with the second bar in the arrivals area. A fast-food restaurant serving international cuisines along with soft and alcoholic drinks, can be found on the 1st floor. There are 4 cafés located further within the airport.
Shopping
At the check-in area small handicraft shops appear, selling local products and souvenirs such as you may find at some the Tunisian resorts, including leather and pottery.
In the departure and arrivals lounges you will find a series of duty-free shops selling handicrafts as well as three other stores dealing in Tobacco, alcoholic drinks, perfumes, chocolate, sweets and numerous other accessories.
Transport From The Airport
On arrival yellow-coloured taxis ply the front of the airport, and are available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Estimated costs are as follows:
- Souisse – 10.000 Tunisian dinars
- Port El Kantaoui – 15.000 Tunisian dinars
- Hammamet (via Grand Taxi) – 80.000 Tunisian dinars
Note: Fares can increase by up to 50% after 9pm.
For a cheaper alternative, a Light Rail System next to the airport includes a train every 30 minutes for Monastir and Sousse destinations. Buses also run hourly to Souisse, on the main road, but aren’t as reliable as the trains.
Estimated train times to each main resort are as follows:
- Monastir City Centre – 15 minutes
- Sousse – 20 minutes
- Hammamet City Centre – 45 minutes

Parking
Car parking facilities can be found opposite the departure and arrivals halls, divided into two parts. The area in question has a capacity of 522 vehicles.
